WSU Medical School Award Named for Late Dr. Brown A group of physicians from Sinai Hospital of De- troit has established a stu- dent scholarship award at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in mem- ory of their longtime col- league, Dr. Saul Brown. Dr. Sidney Kobernick and associates, pathologists at Sinai Hospital, have created the Saul Brown Memorial Prize in Path- ology to annually recognize one sophomore medical stu- dent's outstanding per- formance in the study of that specialty. The late Dr. Brown, a 1951 WSU Medical School graduate, served on the pathology staff of Sinai Hospital for 25 years. A spe- cialist in gynecological pathology, he was a clinical associate professor of path- ology at WSU at the time of his death in a drowning ac- cident in August 1978. Dr. Brown is remembered by his colleagues as a skilled, knowledgeable physician with a warm sense of humor. Dr. Kobernick and associates hope to per- petuate Dr. Brown's memory and encourage an interest among medi- cal students in the spe- cialty of pathology through the establish- ment of the Saul Brown award.
