Lesson of Pharaohs Seen
in Negotiations With Egypt

Editor, The Jewish News:
It is true that as long as
Egypt and Israel are at
peace, the prospect of a war
is remote. But in 25 years,
when Sadat is gone and a
new president of Egypt
forms another alliance with
the Arab countries, and
they decide to attack Israel
in the past, how will Is-
be able to defend itself?
have not forgotten what
happened 3,700 years ago,
when a friendly Pharoah
invited the Jews to settle in
Egypt and the succeeding
Pharaoh enslaved them for
400 years!
Anyone who looks at the
map can see that for Israel
to return to the 1967 bor-
ders would be nothing less
than suicide!

are deadly serious when
they say that they want
all of Palestine (which in-
cludes all of Israel)! The
nations of the world ig-
nore Arafat's threat and
dismiss it as "prop-
aganda." Hitler's threat
was also ignored! But Is-
rael cannot allow itself
such a luxury.
Therefore, Begin should
call "a spade a spade" and
tell the world that Israel
will never return to the
1967 borders, and dis-
cussions along these lines
should terminate right now!
Joseph's mistake in inviting
the Jews to Egypt proved to
be disastrous. Let us hope
that the government of Is-
rael will not make a similar
mistake.

ADLers Who
Seized Office
Are Arrested

NEW YORK (JTA) —
Police arrested five mem-
bers of the Jewish Defense
League after they seized the
offices of the Hebrew-Uni-
versity and the American
Friends of the Hebrew Uni-
versity in New York.
A spokesman for the 14th
Precinct Midtown South
said the five were being
booked but could not say
immediatley on what
charges.
The Jewish Telegraphic
Agency received a tele-
phone call at about 2 p.m.
from a person who di-
entified himself as Dov Be-
cker and said he was a
member of the JDL.
He said the five had
seized the offices a half-hour
earlier to demand the ex-
pulsion of all Arab students
from the Hebrew Univer-
sity unless they sign a dec-
laration recognizing Israel's
sovereignty over the "Land
of Israel."

Wishing all our friends and
relatives a year of health
and happiness
