Sunday youth groups and junior congrega- tion Shabat youth services will resume after the High Holy Days in September. Talit and Tefilin Club will go to Chicago Aug. 26-27. Members will be hosted by a synagogue youth gro ap, and will tour the city and see a De- troit Tiger baseball game. Alan Hurvitz is adviser. BBYO Activities 0 enty-one Michigan RA__ - _in BBYOers attended the District 6 BBYO con- 1 vention held in Elkhart Lake, Wis. The theme of the convention was "Israel from I the Inside Out," and the highlight was a phone call % to Tel Aviv to speak to sev- eral Israeli youth, members of Noar L'Noar, BBYO's counterpart there, about their feelings on several youth-oriented issues. Michigan coordinators for the convention were Steve Gabel of Beber AZA and Ai- leen Katz of Simcha BBG. The convention also fea- tured the finals of several district contests and runoffs for BBYO International contests. In all, Michigan BBYO captured 52 awards, the most of any region pre- sent. The AZA Chai Club in- cludes chapters that have performed 18 hours of community service dur- ing the program year. AZAs receiving recogni- tion from Michigan were Beber; Benny; Hart; Herzl, Windsor; Jolson; L'Chaim; and Rose. The BBG Mitzva Club in- eludes chapters that have performed 20 hours of com- munity service. BBGs re- ceiving recognition were Erani, Glazer, Savage, Shalom Aviv and Yachad, \I Windsor. The District 6 $250 Club recognizes those chapters j giving that amount or above to the BBYO International Service Fund. Michigan Region BBG was recognized for the high- est actual increase in mem- bership and the highest per- centage increase, while Michigan AZA made the largest AZA contribution to the International Service 'Fund and the largest per capita contribution. Housing Deal TEL AVIV (JTA) — A group of American inves- tors was reported last week ready to sign an agreement with the Ministry of Hous- ing to build flats for rental. The group, which in- cludes several lawyers, plans to raise $70-$80 mil- lion from American insur- ance companies.
