Sydney Peimer Will Retire From Sinai Hospital Post
Sydney C. Peimer, senior
vice president for medical
affairs at Sinai Hospital of
Detroit, will retire Tuesday
after more than 40 years in
the medical field.
Peimer came to Sinai in
1957 as associate director
and later served as adminis-
trator and vice president for
administration. In his pre-
sent position, which he as-
sumed two years ago, he
provides guidance and as-
sistance to Sinai's medical
staff of nearly 800 physi-
cians and dentists.

Peimer began his medical
career as a registered nurse
during the Depression.
After World War II, he was
an administrator at the
Jewish Hospital and Brook-
dale Hospital, Center, both
in Brooklyn.
As administrator, and
later vice president for
administration, Peimer
was responsible for the
day-to-day operation of
Sinai Hospital. He was
responsible for imple-
menting many programs.
Peimer participated in
professional organizations.
He was one of the founding
fathers and the first chair-
man of the Michigan Hospi-
tal Association's committee
on psychiatric services.
He served on the board of
trustees of Blue Cross and
Blue Shield of Michigan and
on several of its committees,
the board of trustees of the
Metropolitan Northwest
Detroit Hospitals Council
and also served on commit-
tees of the Michigan State

1/2 tsp. salt
5 tsps. sugar .
1/2 cup oil
2 cups flour
Mix all ingredients together
and beat for 10 minutes with an
electric mixer at a medium
speed. Put wax paper on a
cookie sheet. Drop globs of
batter from a spoon and
sprinkle with sugar or cinna-
mon sugar as preferred. Bake
at 375 degrees for about one-
half hour. Remove from pan
while hot with a spatula. Do not
cover when storing or the
kichels will become soggy. Do
not freeze!
