Kidnapping Unsolved

TEL AVIV (JTA) —
Police still have no clue to
the whereabouts of eight-
year-old Oron Yarden, kid-
napped in Tel Aviv 19 days
ago.
An anonymous telephone
caller to Abie Nathan's
"Voice of Peace" radio sta-
tion last week said Oron
would be returned Sunday
morning but that turned out
to be a hoax.

and his sister has gone back
to school. The IL 2 million
($40,000) demanded by the
kidnappers was paid on
June 10 but their son was
not released and nothing
has been heard from the
kidnappers since then.

las Diamonds of the
Women's Basketball
League (WBL) made Nancy
Lieberman the -number one
selection in the league's re-
cent college draft.
Miss Lieberman, who
played college basketball at
Old Dominion, is reportedly
seeking $100,000 per year
to play for Dallas, which
would make her the highest
paid player in the WBL.

Citizens, meets Gov. William G. Milliken in Lansing,
where Miller appeared before the House Subcommit-
tee on Mental Health in testimony supporting group
homes. Accompanied by Lynn Medow, JARC director
of residential programs, Miller gave reasons, based
on his own experience, for supporting such homes as
opposed to institutionalization for retarded persons.
The Detroiters also presented hundreds of letters
backing group homes.

the World Zionist Organiza-
tion and Jewish Agency
Executives, has praised a
recently established group
of American Zionists who
have pledged to immigrate
to Israel within a specific
number of years.
The group, called Telem,
an acronym for the Hebrew
words "Movement for
Realizing Zionism," was
founded in California in
May, 1979 and claim'
membership -of 1,000. L

recognition by the WZO at
the forthcoming meeting of

Oak Park's Zoning Board
of Appeals on Tuesday -
cleared the first step for
Yeshivath Beth Yehudah to
use Roosevelt School on
Greenfield south of Ten
Mile as a boy's school and
dormitory.
The board approved the
use of the facility for those
purposes by the yeshiva.
However, according to a
yeshiva spokesman, the
second step in the approval
process is to request a zon-
ing change for a portion of
the school property to gen-
eral commercial use. This
would allow the school to
sub-lease that portion to the
adjacent Ford dealership.
Area residents are repor-
tedly opposed to expansion
of the dealership.
