Rabbi Goldman's Israel Trip
to Promote Israel Food Here

Rabbi Jack Goldman,
local administrator of the
Metropolitan Kashruth
Council of Michigan, is in
Israel on a seven-week in-
spection tour of kosher food
manufacturers in the
Jewish state. The primary
purpose of Rabbi Goldman's
tour is to promote more
widespread use of kosher
foods from Israel in the U.S.
and in principal cities in
Canada.
While in Israel, Rabbi
ldman will engage a
permanent representtive
of the Metropolitan Kas-
hrith Council in Israel to
deal with rabbinical super-
vision of food plants there
that wish to enter the export
market in the U.S. and
Canada.
- At the present time,
most foods coming into
this country from Israel
are shipped to New York.
From there, it is neces-
sary to ship them across
the country. The new
plan would be to ship di-
rectly to Detroit or to

411 0 ,

principal Canadian cities
and thus keep the prices
of Israeli items on a com-
petitive scale.
During Rabbi Goldman's
absence, all affairs of the
Metropolitan Kashruth
Council will be handled by
his son, Gershon A.
Goldman. The council's
office, 542-4499, will re-
main operative during the
summer.

Bomb Disrupts
Eichmann Film

NEW YORK (JTA) — A
tear gas bomb was hurled
into a Montevideo movie
theater on May 31, disrupt-
ing the showing of a U.S.-
made film about Adolf
Eichmann's abduction from
Argentina by Israeli agents
in 1960, the Anti-
Defamation League of Bnai
Brith disclosed.
According to the ADL,
hundreds were forced to flee
the Cine Central where
"The House on Garibaldi
Street" was playing. The
Jewish Central Committee
of Uruguay called the inci-
dent a "neo-Nazi attack"
and asked the authorities to
punish those responsible,
ADL said.
Earlier, the film was
withdrawn from three
movie theaters in Argen-
tina after one week when
two Argentine citizens filed
suit to bar its showing on
the grounds that the film
"mocks Argentina's sover-
eignty."
