Dr. Alfred Klein

Avery Weiswasser, assis-
tant prosecuting attorney
for Livingston County and
former assistant prosecut-
ing attorney for Wayne
County, died June 6 at age
68.
A native Detroiter, Mr.
Weiswasser made his home
in Howell. An attorney, Mr.
Weiswasser was the pro-
secutor in the Algiers Motel
case during the 19Q7 riot.
He was a member of Cong.
Solel, Brighton.
He leaves his wife,
Eleanor; two sons, Stephen
of Washington, D.C., and
Dr. Warren of Orange,
n.; a brother, George; a
Mrs. Nevin (Bernice)
Fisk; and five
grandchildren.

Dr. Alfred A. Klein, a
physician with offices in
Sterling Heights, died June
8 at age 62.
Born in New York, Dr.
Klein was graduated from
the Wayne (State) Univer-
sity School of Medicine in
1939. He was an associate
professor at the medical
school. He also was on the
staffs of South Macomb and
Beaumont Hospitals.
Dr. Klein was an associ-
ate of the American College
of Physicians, member of
the American Board of
Rheumatology, Phi Lamda
Kappa Medical Fraternity,
Histadrut, WSU Alumni
Association and Cong. Beth
Achim.
Dr. Klein also was a vio-
linist who performed
with the Oak Park Sym-
phony Orchestra and the
Center Symphony Or-
chestra. He resided at
18301 Rainbow Dr., Lat-
hrup Village.
He leaves two sons, Doug-
las and Leslie; his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Derso (Sarah)
Klein; a brother, Louie; and
four grandchildren.

Benjamin H. Shwayder,
founder and vice president
of Samsonite Corp., died
June 11 at age 82.
Born in Denver, Mr.
Shwayder lived 50 years in,
Detroit. He was the head of
research and development
since 1910 of the corpora-
tion. He retired in 1962.
He was a member of Tem-
ple Beth El and Franklin
Hills Country Club. He
endowed the General Rose
Hospital in Denver. He was
a member of the Denver Art
Museum and was affiliated
with the University of De-
nver Art School.
He leaves his wife, Reva;
a son, Warren; two sisters,
Mrs. Hannah Berry of De-
nver and Mrs. Burton (Libe)
Clamage. Services 2 p.m.
Sunday at Ira Kaufman
Chapel.

Dr. T.S. Rosen

Dr. Theodore S. Rosen,
the first pathologist at
Northwest Grace Hospital,
died June 9 at age 70.
Born in Cleveland, Dr.
_Rosen was a private
pathologist servicing small
hospitals since about 1964.
He was graduated from
(Case-Western Reserve
University Medical School.
He designed the pathology
laboratories at Northwest
Grace.
Dr. Rosen was a Wayne
County Medical Examiner
for many years. He was a
member of Temple Israel
and a former board member.
He leaves his wife, Ruth;
two sons, Richard and
Robert of Washington, D.C.;
and a sister, Mrs. Elmer
(Rose) Wineberg of Cleve-
land. Interment Cleveland.

Anna Goodman

TRENTON, N.J. — Anna
Goodman, wife of philan-
thropist Abraham Good-
man, who made possible the
Goodman House in New
York, home of the Hebrew
Arts School and Tarbuth
Foundation, died recently
at age 81.
Mrs. Goodman was the
first vice president of the
New York. Women's Di-
vision of the Zionist Organ-
ization of America and a na-
tional board member of its
women's division.

Israel Defense
Cuts 'Impossible

TEL AVIV (JTA) — Chief
of Staff Gen. Raphael Eitan
claimed last weekend that it
is impossible for Israel's de-
fense forces to absorb cuts in
the defdnse budget at this
time.
Eitan noted that Israel
must sustain the highest
level of preparedness be-
cause its enemies on the
eastern front are expanding
and strengthening their
forces at a dangerous pace.
Eitan also denied allega-
tions that Israel was pour-
ing armed forces into the
West Bank.

Editor of Yiddish
Newspaper Dies

MEXICO CITY (JTA) —
Moishe Rubenstein, for
many years editor of the
Jewish Voice, a Yiddish
newspaper, is dead at age
74.
Rubenstein wrote a reg-,
ular column for the Jewish
Voice for some 40 years.
Born in Grodno, Lithuania,
where he started his liter-
ary career, he came to
Mexico 50 years ago. He
also served as a correspon-
dent for the Jewish Daily
Forward, the New York
Yiddish paper, Lezte Neies
in Tel Aviv and Die Presse
in Buenos Aires.
During the past two
years, he served as execu-
tive director of the
c 'Ashkenazic Kehilla Nidche
Israel. He published several
novels in Yiddish.
