Southfield Student Receives
Top Honor at Wayne State

Oakland County Corn-
missioner Dennis M. Aaron
(D-Oak Park) has filed suit
in Oakland County Circuit
Court to have the name of
challenger Norman
Goldman removed from the
Aug. 5 primary ballot.
Goldman wants to use his
Hebrew middle name, It-
zhak, on the ballot with his
English name.
Aaron claims that
Goldman wants to use his
Hebrew middle name to
imply that he is a religious
man. Aaron has the same
Hebrew middle name.
A court hearing on the
suit is scheduled for next
Wednesday.

Edward Hurvitz of South-
field has been named a co-
winner of Wayne State
University's Howard A.
Donnelly Leadership and
Scholarship Award. Hur-
vitz will be honored at WSU
commencement exercises,
8:30 p.m. this Tuesday.
The award recognizes the
man and woman "who have
made the most outstanding
contributions in both stu-
dent activities and aca-
demic scholarship in their
undergraduate work at the
university."
Hurvitz, who is receiving
his BS degree in honors bi-
ology, was co-founder and
vice president of the Sigma
Alpha Mu Fraternity and a
member of the Bnai Brith

WSU School of Medicine
this fall after spending the
summer touring Europe

Southfield Senior
Club Gathers

Samuel Greenberg was
elected president of the
Senior Men's Club of South-
field. Other officers are:
Lewis Diamond and Jack
Victor, vice presidents;
Frank Baylerian, treasurer;
and Judy Samson as secre-
tary. Trustees are: Phil Cu-
tler, Ben Goldberg, Phil
Herman, Reid Rayner,
Herman Schuman and
Louis Weiler.
The group is newly or-
ganized and is open to all
men who are 62 years of age
or older and residing in
Southfield. The next meet-
ing will be held 1 p.m. Wed-
nesday at the McDonnell
Towers.
