Max Gill Assumes Post Max Gill has been ap- pointed director, East Cen- tral Region, American Technion Society, it was announced by Theodore H. Krengel, national president. Gill is on leave from his position at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. The East Central Region is comprised of the states of Michigan, Ohio and In- diana. It is based in South- field. Maj. (ret.) Gill, was born in Germany and came to pre-state Israel with his parents in 1926. After graduating from high school in Haifa he studied law in England and at the British Mandatory Pales- tine Law School in Jerusalem. Gill spent 23 years in full-time military service in Israel's defense forces. In the War of Liberation he was in command of one of the infantry com- panies which rescued Haifa from the Iraqis and during the Six-Day War was instrumental in the evacuation of the UN personnel from the battle areas. He was also a member of the first mili- tary government in Gaza. In addition to his work with the youth in Israel, he spent five years in Africa as an Israeli emissary training the top youth leaders from Africa and Asia. In this ef- fort he served as the youth work adviser to the Libe- rian government and also served for two years in Addis Ababa with the UN Economic Commission for Africa, as the African regional youth work ad- viser.
