Detroiters From Frankfurt Visit Their. Former Homes

A couple from Livonia
and a Southfield woman
toured their hometown of
Frankfurt, Germany, re-
cently, with a group of
American Jews 'brought to
Germany on behalf of the
Frankfurt government, ac-
cording to a story in the
New York Times. -
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Adler and Mrs. Erna

Leopold, part of a group of
106 Jews, mostly in their
70s and 80s, had been dri-
ven from their homes by the
Nazis- at the onset of World
War II.
Frankfurt Mayor Walter
Wallmann said the invita-
tion was not only a gesture
of reconciliation but also a
statement of appreciation
for the cultural and busi-
