Woman Earns Dropsie PhD PHILADELPHIA — For only the fourth time in its history, Dropsie University will graduate a woman with the PhD degree. Mrs.. Therese Lena Shore, who escaped from the Nazis by living under false papers designating her as a Chris- tian, will be awarded the doctoral degree at the 68th annual commencement exercises May 29. A published poet, author arid songwriter who lived in Paris and in Montreal be- fore settling in Philadel- phia, Mrs. Shore has lectured extensively on the Holocaust and her partici- pation as a member of the resistance movement in Po- land. Yeshiva University to Cite Yiddi h P t Chi aim G ra d e s oe NEW YORK — Chaim Grade, the Yiddish poet and novelist whose works are based on the life in Jewish Vilna, the "Jerusalem of Lithuania," will be awarded an honorary doctorate at Yeshiva University's 49th annual commencement June 12. The university will confer honorary degrees upon Grade, Federal Judge Ab- raham Sofaer and Aryeh Dulzin, chairman of the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency. ADL Protests SBA Decision on Hasidim CHAIM GRADE NEW YORK — The Anti-Defamation League of Bnai Brith charged recently that the Federal Small Business Administration's (SBA) refusal to designate Hasidim as a "socially and economically disadvan- taged group" constitutes religious discrimination. ADL national director Nathan Perlmutter called on the agency to rescind last month's decision that de- nies the group eligibility for minority business assis- tance programs.
