Israeli folk dances will be performed by the ladies' dance group, led by Sunny Segal. The evening will honor Ruth Levi .and Aviva Carmen, who are making aliya. Officers will be installed. Greater Detroit Council, Pioneer Women, will pre- sent Tamar Avidar Eldar, consul for women's affairs at the Israel Embassy in Washington, D.C., 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Pioneer Women headquarters, 25900 Greenfield, Suite 205E, Oak Park. Author of seven books, Mrs. Eldar served in the Palmach and Israel Defense Forces as a welfare and cul- ture coordinator. For the past 23 years she has worked as a journalist for the Hebrew daiiies, Davar and Maariv. She has been the editor of the style section of Maariv for the past eight years and is a columnist on life in Israel. Her talk will follow meet- ings of Clubs One and Two. Harvey Burg, chairman of the Greater Boston Aliya Council, in existence for the past six years, was on hand to offer assistance to the new council. Among the activities dis- cussed were a chaver- landsmanshaft program; phone contact, visits to former Detroiters in Israel, enlargement of the Detroit directory of olim, publica- tion of a booklet of summer study programs in Israel, establishment of schol- arships, creation of a loan fund, correspondence and a l'hitraot b'aretz (see you in Israel) party for Detroiters making aliya.
