Augusta Hinds

Augusta "Gus" Hinds, a
member of Jewish women's
organizations in Detroit,
died May 6 in Cleveland,
Ohio, at age 68.
Born in Cleveland, Mrs.
Hinds lived 23 years in Oak
Park prior to returning to
Cleveland in January.
While in Detroit, she was a
member of Hanita Chapter
of Pioneer Women and a
volunteer for and life
member of the Sinai Hospi-
tal Guild.
She is survived by her
'-sband,
Emanuel
_Lanny"; two sons, David of
California and Steven of
Florida; a brother, Henry
Cohen of Florida; and four
grandchildren. Interment
Cleveland.

Lillian Roth
Actress, Dies

,

NEW YORK — Actress
and author Lillian Roth
died May 12 at age 69.
Miss Roth began her act-
ing career at 6 and at age 8
became a Broadway star. At
age 18 she went to Hol-
lywood and starred in a
variety of films.
Her book, "I'll Cry To-
morrow," recalled Miss
Roth's triumphs and trials
in her acting career and
personal life. The book was
published in 1954, and two
years later was made into a
movie.

Grant Awarded

NEW YORK — Milton
Ellerin, . director of the
Trends Analyses Division of
the American Jewish
Committee, has been
named 1980 recipient of the
organization's Sol
Feinstone Grant for in-
service training.
The grant will enable El-
lerin to conduct a four-to-
six-week on-the-scene study
of neo-Nazism in post-war
Germany.
