The Rosenbaums are
active members of Bnai
Brith and ORT, and re-
cently established a schol-
arship at the Bar-Ilan Uni-
versity.
Rosenbaum is the week-
day gabbai at Young Israel
of Greenfield and is in
charge of collecting and dis-
tribution of charity funds.
With his assistance the con-
gregation was able to pur-
chase an ambulance for
Magen David Adorn.
The endowment of the
Rosenbaum's is part of a
special effort by the De-
troit Friends of Shaare
Zedek to assist the hosp-
ital in maintaining and
developing the Nursing
Educational Center.
To provide individual
scholarships, a committee
under the chairmanship of
Irving Nusbaum is solicit-
ing funds to enable new stu-
dents to enter the nursing
profession.
A plaque will be pre-
sented to Mr. and Mrs.
Rosenbaum at the annual
dinner of the Detroit
Friends of Shaare Zedek
Hospital on May 29 at the
Sheraton-Southfield Hotel.
Max Nosanchuk is
chairman, Sam Cohodas is
guest of honor and Dr.
David Maeir, director gen-
eral of the hospital, is guest
speaker.

Shaare Zedek recently
established a student-
nurse training program
for young women who
matriculated at Ameri-
can colleges. The pro-
gram is jointly sponsored
by the hospital, the Col-
lege Consortium of In-
ternational Studies, the
Israel Ministry of Health
and the American Zionist
Youth Foundation.
The program will begin
admitting students in the
fall and is expected to help
alleviate a shortage of
nurses in Israel.

the 1,000 delegates at the
five-day biennial conven-
tion of the National Jewish
Welfare Board, the associa-
tion of Jewish community
centers, YM and YWHAs
and camps in the United
States and Canada.
A New York rabbi
criticized the United States
and the "Western world" for
"procrastinating in saying
'no' to terrorism and tem-
porizing with evil."
A JWB leader urged that
the vast untapped reservoir
of "woman power" be im-
mediately utilized to meet
the growing demand of the
spiraling Jewish population
in cities throughout the
Sunbelt.
