Apts. Dedication .Honors Prentis Family, Aids Jewish Elderly

More than 500 commu-
nityites, representing a
cross section of Metropoli-
tan Detroit Jewry, joined on
Sunday in acclaiming the
dedication of the second
Federation Apartment's
facility as a major accom-
plishment.
The elderly housed in the
new, impressively planned
Prentis Towers were joined
by leadership and laity in
expressions of joy over the
success in providing hous-
ing for additional elder citi-
zens.
The dedication registered
any echoes of interest in
the Jewish community's
concern for the elderly. It
had equal acclaim from fed-
eral, state and local
spokesmen. Congressman
James Blanchard spoke of
the national interest in such
efforts and there were
spokesmen for the state and
the Oak Park adminis-
trators.
State Senator Doug
Ross and Michigan
House of Representa-
tives Majority Leader
Joseph Forbes spoke for
the Michigan con-
stituents and presented a
citation from the state to
the Federation Apart-
ments.
Mayor David Shepherd of
Oak Park eOressed the ci-
ty's sense of appreciation
that in its midst is so ex-
pressive an effort to provide
housing for the senior citi-
zens.
