Schaver, noon May 18 at Cong. Shaarey Zedek. Harold Berry, chairman of the event, and Thomas I. Klein, chapter president, announced the speaker and added that he is currently a lecturer on social studies at Harvard University. Prof. Peretz has held academic posts at Brandeis Univer- sity and has written hun- dreds of papers and reports on American and Israel politics and socio-economic concerns. Bernard Backer, president of Workmen's Circle, stated that the organization sympathizes with Israel's desire to ,in- crease her Jewish popula- tion and offer haven to Soviet Jews. "Nonetheless," he said, "freedom of choice for the immigrant should prevail.
