Enroute hadn't been open yet, but the four were on a buying trip for the unnamed store across the hall from Bloch's Clothes in Orchard Mall, Orchard Lake Rd. and Maple. It's run by Frank's-wife Debbie, who creates images from windows to the woman customers . . . from the mo- ment that gal walks into the store . . . Bloch's Clothes, owned by Jules Olen, Frank and son-in-law Leonard (Mar- 1L..ne is Jules' and Ruth's daughter) is among the oldest active clothing stores around. - Jules opened his doors in 1932 on 12th and Clair- mount under another name. Unless he moved to Texas, Jules never thought he'd see the day a customer would come in and buy 20 felt cowboy hats to give his friends . . . In fact, even his foresight never gave vent to the fact that Bloch's would even carry anything west- ern . . . That's a big boom today, and Jules, Frank and Leonard are well supplied with cowboy hats . . . espe- cially th-e very popular straw ... and naturally cowboy boots, also. Debbie doesn't stay out of the western picture . . . Her Enroute store is well for- tified with jeans.
