Share of JDC Financial Support
By BORIS SMOLAR

Greater communica-
tion with the American
Jewish community is
now being developed by
JDC through holding two
semi-annual meetings of
its Board instead of one
meeting a year. The
Board is composed of
about 200 top leaders of
Jewish communities
from all parts of the
United States.
An important event in the
history of the JDC will be
the dedication this summer
of the JDC's newly-built
headquarters in Jerusalem.
The .opening of the new
home will mark the 65th
anniversary of JDC support
for Israel and its people.

following this tradition as
part of its worldwide relief
program.

NEW YORK (JTA) — A
"Coalition of Democratic
Zionists" has been formed
here in order to counteract
what its leaders term as
"the corruption of Zionism"
by the present Israeli gov-
ernment and the "re-
treatism from original labor
principles" by the state of
Israel.
The coalition, formed last
month, comprises indi-
vidual members of
Habonim Labor Zionist
Youth, Hashomer Hatzair,
Americans for Progressive
Israel and • unaffiliated
Zionists, according to Ste-
ven Berkowitz of Habonim,
a founder of the coalition.

Novick Hits U.S. Energy
Policy After ZOA Tour
NEW YORK (JTA) —
"The American people have
been living in an energy
fantasy land for the past 30
years. It is obvious that a
greater commitment to the
solution of our energy crisis
\ by the American populance
is both necessary and vital."
This view was expressed by
Ivan Novick, president of
the Zionist Organization of
America (ZOA), upon his re-
turn from a five-day on-
the-spot examination of
U.S. energy facilities.
Through the efforts of Dr.
Zalman Shapiro, a nation-
ally known scientist and
chairman of the ZOA
Energy Committee, the
ZOA sponsored and coordi-
nated an in-depth energy
study tour last month for 20
--- leaders of major American
- .Jewish organizations.
According to Novick, "A
great deal of conflicting in-
formation regarding U.S.
-energy policy has been dis-
seminated to the public at
large."
Major organizations re-
presented in the tour in-
cluded the National Council
of Jewish Women, Bnai
Brith, American Jewish
Congress, United
Synagogue of America,
Anti-Defamation League of
Bnai Brith, Hadassah,
Jewish War Veterans of
America, National Federa-
