full force in preparation for
the Olympic Games despite
the planned U.S. boycott.
No decisions will be made
one way or another concern-
ing that country's possible
boycott of the Olympics
until May 23.
President Carter has
placed the Israelis in a very
embarrassing position and
it affects that particular
country probably in more
ways than any other Olym-
pic member nation.
The President would like
to see Israel boycott the
Games and he has indicated
this very strongly to Pre-
mier Menahem Begin.
Begin has explained to Car-
ter that the decision ulti-
mately will be made by the
Israel Olympic Committee
with no interference from
the government.
So far as Israel's Olym-
pic program is con-
cerned, one of their top
track stars, who ulti-
mately will replace
Esther Roth as Israel's
premier trackster, Anat
Meiry, and her coach will
be coming to the United
States to train on the
West Coast. It is felt that
Meiry, a top flight
sprinter, with good
competition under her
belt, will make a name for
herself in the track
world, provided, of
course, she gets the
opportunity to compete
against good athletes.
The basketball team will
be going to West Germany
very shortly to participate
in a training camp in that
country.
They will be scrimmaging
against the best West Ger-
many has to offer and will
be getting into condition for
the European eliminations,
which will take place some
time during May in Geneva,
Switzerland.

tatives in the Holy Land
Brooklyn Yeshiva
Will Become
Production Center
NEW YORK — The
Yeshiva University High
School in Brooklyn has been
sold to International Studio
Systems Inc. for $1.6 mil-
lion.
The property, which dur-
ing the silent film era was
the site of Vitagraph
Studios, will become one of
the largest movie and tele-
vision production centers on
the East Coast.
The school will remain at
the site until a new Brook-
lyn location is found.
Workmen Circle
National Meeting
MT. POCONO, Pa. —
More than 1,000 members
of the Workmen's Circle,
Jewish cultural and frater-
nal order, will meet at Mt.
Airy Lodge May 15-18 to
commemorate their 80th
jubilee and consider reports
on international, national
and internal affairs.
HAIFA A summer pro-
gram offering students from
around the world a chance
to spend a few days, or a few
weeks with their Israeli
counterparts is being of-
fered by the student asso-
ciation of the Technion-
Israel Institute of Technol-
ogy.
"Hai-Fun," now in its
fourth year, offers living
quarters in campus dor-
mitories and a full program
of cultural and social activi-
ties. For information, co-
tact Hai-Fun, Mish
Vloch, Director, Technion
City, Haifa, Israel.
—
have asked for help in get-
ting an American college
team to come over and com-
pete against the Israel Na-
tional Team in order for
them to prepare for the up-
coming eliminations.
Unfortunately, Ameri-
can colleges in the Na-
tional Collegiate Athletic
Association (NCAA) are
not permitted to partici-
pate in competition once
the season—has con-
cluded.
However, arrangements
are now being made with
colleges not in the NCAA
jurisdiction to consider the
possibility of going over to
compete in at least three
games with the Israel N _ a-
tional Team.
It goes without saying
that Israel is faced with a
dilemma in trying to decide
whether or not to go to Mos-
cow come July. It is interest-
ing to note that the Israel
Olympic Committee has re-
ceived several letters from
rabbis, who normally don't
get involved in sports,
pleading that the team be
allowed to go to the Soviet
Union to make certain that
no harm is done to the
Jewish residents of that
country.
Asthma Parley

NEW YORK — The In-
ternational Symposium on
Etiological and Therapeuti-
cal Aspects of Asthma will
convene in Israel Nov. 30-
Dec. 7. This meeting is
being sponsored by the De-
partment of Pulmonary
Diseases, Beilinson Univer-
sity Hospital, Petah/Tikva
and the International Medi-
cal Climatical Treatment
Center for Asthma in Arad.
