Barney Barnett

Barney Barnett, one of
the oldest bail bondsmen in
the country, died April 18 at
age 82.
Born in London, England,
Mr. Barnett represented the
bonding division of the U.S.
Fidelity and Trust Co. for 50
years. He was a member of
Temple Israel, past
president of the Hannah
Schloss Old Timers and a
past president of the Jewish
House of Shelter.
Mr. Barnett was a life
member of Union Lodge of
`tie Masons and held mem-
rship the Detroit Con-
sistory and Moslem Shrine.
He leaves his wife, Molly;
and a brother, David.

Progressive Aid Society. An
investment and real estate
broker, Mr. Kurnetz retired
15 years ago. He resided at

He is survived by a son,
Dr. Ruben; a daughter, Mrs.

Julius Hackman

Julius Hackman, former
owner of The Market Bas-
ket, died April 19 at age 80.
Born in Russia, Mr.
Hackman was a member of
Cong. Bnai David, Hannah
Schloss Old Timers and the
Retired Businessmen's
Club of the Jewish Commu-
nity Center.
He leaves two sisters,
Ethel and Mrs. Samuel

David Baum, 90

David Baum, a real estate
investor and co-founder of
Baum Jewelers in Ham-
tramck, died April 20 at age
90.
His company was founded
in 1914. He was a member of
Temple Beth El and Pisgah
Lodge of Bnai Brith.
He leaves a son, Judge
Victor Baum; a daughter,
Dr. Pearl Hauser; eight
