Women Invest $100,000 in Bonds at Lunch
in Advance of Tuesday Hadassah Event

An Israel Bond sponsor
luncheon, hosted by Anne
Parzen, realized more than
$100,000 in Israel Bond
subscriptions. The leader-
ship event was attended by
30 guests who made Bond
purchases in honor of
Suzanne Kaufman, Hadas-

sah "Woman of the Year."

Mrs. Kaufman will be the
recipient of Israel's Lion of
Judah Peace Award at the
annual Metropolitan De-
troit Chapter of Hadassah
tribute luncheon, to be held
at noon Tuesday at Cong.

"Looking Toward Tomor-
row," through specially de-
signed management train-
ing and the exploration of
pertinent women's issues.
The opening plenary
keynote address, by Mar-
jorie Merlin Cohen, NCJW
executive director, stated
"that the curtailment of so-
cial services necessitated by
today's inflation presents a
heightened challenge to the
volunteer sector."
A major program, "Right
vs. Write" demonstrated the
controversy between the in-
dividual's right to a fair
trial versus" the public's
right to know as in media
coverage.
Shirley I. Leviton,
NCJW national
president, closed the
convention with "What
Does A Woman Want?"

including equal protec-
tion under the law; we
want equal opportunity;
we want to be free from
domestic violence; we
want to determine the de-
stiny of our own bodies."
The newly elected Cen-
tral District President is
Carole Stein of In-
dianapolis, Ind. Phyllis
Welling of West Bloomfield
is the vice president in
charge of the 1982 conven-
tion; Barbara Kuhlik of
Bloomfield Hills is the area
12 chairman.
Rabbi Dannel I. Schwartz
of Temple Beth El recited
the invocation at the open-
ing dinner of the conven-
tion. Rabbi Irwin Groner of
Cong. Shaarey Zedek gave
the invocation at the closing
banquet Wednesday night.
