Charities Board Elects 7

Seven directors were
elected to the board of
United Jewish Charities at
its meeting on March 27.
They are Milton J. Miller
and Joel Gershenson,
elected, and Maurice S.
Cohen and Milford Nemer,
re-elected, all to three-year
terms; Samuel Schiff and
Jack 0. Lefton, re-elected to
two-year terms; and Joseph
B. Colten, elected to a one-
year term.
Miller, past president of
United Jewish Charities,
served as chairman of
UJC's endowment fund
program for more than a de-
cade. He is on the boards of
Detroit Service Group,
Sinai Hospital and Jewish
Community Center.
Gershenson, a former
member of Junior Division,
is a regional chairman of
the United Jewish Appeal's
national Young Leadership
Cabinet. He also serves on
the boards of Jewish Feder-
ation Apartments and
Fresh Air Society.
Cohen serves on the
boards of the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation and
United Jewish Charities
and is chairman of their
joint real estate and land
committee.
Nemer is a director of the
Jewish Home for the Aged
and the Tamarack Hills
Authority. He also is on the
board of the Jewish Voca-
tional Service.
Schiff is on the boards of
the Jewish Family Service,
United Jewish Charities,
Detroit Service Group and
Jewish Home for the Aged.
Lefton, a recipient of the
Fred M. Butzel Memorial
Award for distinguished
leadership, serves on the
Capital Needs Committee.
He also is on the boards of
Jewish Federation Apart-
ments, Jewish Home for the
Aged, Jewish Welfare Fed-
eration, Sinai Hospital, De-
troit Service Group and
United Jewish Charities.
Colten is associate
chairman of the culture
and education budgeting
and planning committee.
He also is pre-Campaign
chairman of the Indus-
trial and Automotive Di-
vision of the Allied
Jewish Campaign.
