drove trucks in the British
Army Women's Corps and
served as education officer.
Prior to Israel's indepen-
dence, Mrs. Palti trained
with the Jewish Agency's
school for diplomats, and
since 1948 she has worked
in the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs. Mrs. Palti was sec-
retary to Israel's first
Foreign Minister, Moshe
Sharrett, and accompanied
him to the UN Assembly in
Paris in 1948. In the 1950s
she went with her husband,
Gershon Palti, to England
where he served at the Is-
rael Embassy in London.
She later served in the
division for cultural rela-
tions, the division of in-
ternational organiza-
tions and the division of
research at which she
edited "The Arab View."
In 1974 and 1975, Mrs.
Palti represented Israel
at the UN Committee on
Human Rights.
Before coming to Chicago,
Mrs. Palti served as deputy
director of information in
Jerusalem and co-edited the
1978 edition of "Facts About
Israel."
