Holtzman, gen- eral chairman of Metropoli- tan Detroit State of Israel Bonds, has called for a spe- cial cash mobilization drive to help provide funds ur- gently needed by the gov- ernment of Israel. "Headlines feature the tough political problems facing Israel today, but be- hind the headlines are eco- nomic difficulties which are just as critical. We call upon all friends of Israel to mobilize the maximum cash possible, from unpaid sub- scriptions and new sales, to tangibly demonstrate our community's support dur- ing a time of great economic stress for Israel," said Holtzman. Nationally, the Israel Bond Organization, Israel's major arm for securing loan dollars for economic de- velopment, has a 1980 goal of $525 million. This figure surpasses the Yom Kippur War record sale of $515 mil- lion. Detroit's Bond leader- ship has pledged $13 mil- lion. Holtzman cited several reasons for the unprece- dented campaign goal: • To help Israel over- come high inflation and stabilize her economy. • To help Israel redeploy from the Sinai to the. Negev.
