NEW YORK — From
April 20-25, the Zionist
Organization of America
(ZOA) will coordinate and
sponsor a national tour of
U.S. energy facilities for the
leaders of many of the major
American Jewish organiza-
tions.
' The ZOA, under the lead-

president, believes that
"energy independence is
America's greatest chal-
lenge" and that "it is crucial

NEW YORK — Norman
Mailer was awarded a 1980
Pulitzer Prize Monday for
The Executioner's Song."
It was Mailer's second
Pulitzer.
' The controversial book,
termed a work of fiction by
Mailer and his publisher, is
the story of the life and
execution of Gary Gillmore.
Mailer's previous prize was
for "Armies of Night," a
non-fiction work published
in 1969.
Ellen H. Goodman, a
former columnist at the De-
troit Free Press and now
with the Boston Globe, and
Leon F. Litwack, a professor
of history at the University
of California at Berkeley,
were also among the 21 re-
cipients of the prestigious
prizes awarded in jour-
nalism, letters, drama, and
music.

Church Named
for Anhe Frank

OSAKA, Japan — A
Japanese Protestant con-
gregation has dedicated its
new church in the name of
Anne Frank, the Jewish girl
whose diary survived her
death in a Nazi concentra-
tion camp.
Representatives of Israel,
Netherlands and the
Japanese government la
weekend attended the
veiling of a statue of Anne
Frank outside the new
Roses of Anne Church.

President Jimmy Carter
proclaimed April 10 as
"ORT Centennial Day,
1980" in honor of the
worldwide efforts of the
Organization for Rehabili-
tation through Training,
and cited the "consistent
quality" of the 100-year-old
organization's programs as
"an inspiration and an in-
dispensable aid to pro-
gress."
