If I were to ask you which
baseball player of the past
two decades had his bubble
gum baseball care printed
in Chinese and Japanese
and distributed in the two
countries involved, the
likelihood is you'd say Ted
Williams, Mickey Mantle,
or somebody of that caliber.
It may surprise you that the
man who claims that dis-
tinction is none other than a
Jewish boy by the name of
Cy Block.
He played in the majors,
briefly, with the Chicago
Cubs and today is one of the
foremost insurance sales-
man in the country. An-

of dollars of life insurance,
but revels in the fact that
his baseball cards are
shown all over the world.
Block is a Brooklyn-born
boy who attended Boy's
High School in t'hat
Borough and excelled in
soccer, basketball and
baseball. He was, at that
time, a second baseman and
was 'considered one of the
best scholastic players in
the New York City area.
We're talking about the
decade of the 30s. Despite
spite receiving some college
offers, Block decided to
enter pro ball and ended up
in a Class D League.
It was a long, slow
process but the
Brooklyn-bred Block
worked his way up
gradually from Class D
ball to Class B ball to
Double A ball and finally
to the majors with the
Cubs. He has many
