Israeli Official Will Speak
at Independence Celebration

Moshe Arad, deputy di-
rector general of the Israel
Foreign Ministry, will be
the guest speaker at the Is-
rael Independence Day cel-
ebration 1:30 p.m. April 20
at the main Jewish Com-
munity Center.
Born in Romania, Arad
immigrated to Israel in
1950. He attended Hebrew
University, specializing in
political science, interna-
tional relations and law.
From 1953 to 1956 he
served in the Israel Defense
Forces, attaining the rank
of captain, and was on
active duty in the Sinai
Campaign and the Six-Day
War.
In 1962, he joined the
Israel Ministry for
Foreign Affairs as prin-
cipal assistant to the di-
rector of the department
of international coopera-
tion. In 1964, he was ap-
pointed to the ministry of
justice as spokesman for
the ministry and director
of the minister's office.
In 1968, Arad was ap-
pointed press counselor at
the embassy of Israel in
London and in 1972 he was
named to the consulate gen-
eral of Israel in New York as
the deputy consul general in
charge of political affairs.
After a brief period in
New York, he was named
minister-counselor in
charge of information at the
Israel Embassy in Wash-
ington, D.C.

Rehab Center
Conducts Seder

The Southfield Rehabili-
tation Center tendered its
Jewish patients a Passover
Seder last week, coordi-
nated by Mrs. Julids Ring.
Rabbi Joshua Sperka of-
ficiated, assisted by Mrs.
Ring. The facility provides
physical rehabilitation to
individuals who have suf-
fered strokes, fractures and
amputations.
