Danny Raskin's

LISTENING
POST

RECENT BOOK called
"Never Forget and Never
Forgive" . . . and cassette
. . . deals with the true story
of a 12-year-old boy thrown
into a concentration camp
by the Nazis during World
War II . . . David Bergman,
now an Oak Park resident,
and husband of Sharon
Bergman, was forced to
"celebrate" his Bar Mitzva
on a cattle train en route to
Auschwitz . . . He lost his
entire family in the camps.
The combination book
and cassette (with the
sounds of the train super-
, imposed on it) could make
an ideal Bar Mitzva gift
since it shows how a child
can go through hell and still
come out a fine human be-
ing.
The book and cassette,
which took David over 12
years to complete, can be ob-
tained by contacting the
Bergmans, 545-6994, or at
Borenstein's Book Store.
THERE'S NO END to
the talents of Rhoda Weiss
. . . Her Rhodika
enterprises is behind that
"Vinnie's Production" of A
Night In Italy fashion show,
April 16, at Butterfly Disco,
32501 Van Dyke in Warren
. . . with tax deductible
monies ($5 per person)
going to March of Dimes.
Rhoda will have models,
celebrities, live entertain-
ment and dancing . . . For
tickets, contact her at 357-
1770.
-
BERNIE MOORIN and
wife Jackie came back from
Acapulco with the story
about staying at one of the
finest hotels there . . . In the
men's room, • Bernie found
no toilet tissue . . . A little
Mexican boy said "I have
some for you. It cost you one
peso" ... Bernie came to the
table and told Jackie about
it . . . "That's funny," she
laughed, "but the same
thing happened to me with a
little girl in the ladies'
room."
POTENTATE LEO
HARRAWOOD can be
mighty proud of his many
volunteer workers at the re-
cent Shrine Circus . . . The
100th anniversary year
show was probably one of
the best yet.
Leo is just into his 1980
year . . . but losing no time
in making himself ready for
higher ground . . . After his
term he'll run for the chair
of Imperial Shrinedom . .
covering all of the United
States.
THE FACT THAT Is-
rael is alive today is due in
no small part to many
people like Irving Guttman
of Irving's Deli on Green-
field . . . who survived the
Nazi Holocaust during
World War II.
He is among those sym-
bolic of the courage dis-
played by those who even
today are fighting for the
life of Israel.
For this reason, Irving is

being honored at a tribute
dinner and dance on behalf
of State of Israel Bonds .. .
by Albert Einstein Lodge
and Chapter . . . April 26 .. .
at Adat Shalom Synagogue
. . . Einstein Israel Bond
chairmen are Sally Bieder-
man, Henry Dorfman and
Eric Rosenow . . . $19 -'per
person includes cocktails,
too . . . plus the appearance
of comic, writer and actor
Mickey Freeman who used
to play Private Zimmerman
in the nine-year-long
"Sergeant Bilko" TV series.
3RD SEDER BY
Knights of Pythias, Detroit
Lodge 55, continues on .. .
this next on Tuesday will be
about the 30th annual .. .
and they get bigger each
' year . . . It's held at the
lodge hall on Coolidge north
of 11 1/2 Mile and is open to
members and guests .. .
There were over 100 last
year . . . and the menu stays
the same . . . with matzot,
gefilte fish, hard-boiled
eggs, sponge cake, fruit
slices, traditional plate, etc.
. . . Alex Rubin is chairman
again . . . no charge.
HELPING TO celebrate
the 40th anniversary of
Shirley_ and Norman Jaffe
. . . plus spending the
Passover holiday with
' them, is their daughter-in-
law Sandra Sohn Jaffe
(Jerry), co-author with Jack
Viertal of the book, "Becom-
ing Parents — Preparing
For The Emotional Changes
of First-Time Parenthood."
While here she's also
promoting the book and will
be on Channel 4's "Taylor
Made" show today at 12:30
p.m. . . . this Monday, at 8
a.m. on "Good Morning De-
troit" over Channel 2 . . .
and also on WWJ radio
Monday at 3 p.m.
Sandra is a certified
child-birth educator, teach-
ing the Lamaze Method .. .
and currently chairman of
the standards and ethics
committee of the Los
Angeles Chapter of the
American Society of
Psychoproph,ylaxis in
Obstetrics, the professional
organization of certified
Lamaze instructors.
In connection with her
work, Sandra has appeared
on national televised seg-
ments of ABC's "Special
Edition" and NBC's
"America Alive."

can define each of the fol-
lowing by a single letter
(and if you're right,'Srou'll be
the first to know it): 1. Blue

note on the piano . . . 3. A
large body of water . . . 4. A
girl's nickname . . . 5. A
vegetable . . . 6. An excla-
mation . . . 7. A beverage.

relieve those who are too
much employed.
