Moss, pro- fessor of anthropology at Wayne State University, has been named the Distin- guished Lecturer of 1980 by the Central States An- thropological Society. The honor is awarded each year by the society to one of its outstanding mem- bers. A regional affiliate of the American Anthropolog- ical Association, the society covers the north central and midwest areas of the nation. In conjunction with the award, Dr. Moss will speak on The South Italian Fam:, ily Revisited" at 8 p.m. April 11 during the annual meeting of the anthropolog- ical society being held April 9-12 in Ann Arbor. Dr. Moss, a member of the WSU faculty since 1952, served as chairman of the department of sociology and anthropol- ogy from 1962 to 1968. A founding member of the American Italian Histor- ical Association and the Italian American. Cul- tural Society, Dr. Moss is considered an authority on the people of Southern Italy. He was awarded a Knighthood in the Order of Merit, Republic of Italy, in 1965 and is an -executive member of the Italian Cen- ter for. Cultural Anthropol- ogy. In 1961-1962 and 1968- 1969, Dr. Moss was a Ful- bright Senior Lecturer in anthropology at the Uni- versity of Rome.
