At a pre-Passover gather-
ing at world Lubavitch
headquarters in Brooklyn,
N.Y. Monday night, Rabbi
Menahem M. Schneerson,
the Lubavitcher Rebbe,
launched a world-wide
campaign designed to bring
Jewish families together for
Passover through their
children.
Rabbi Schneerson pro-
posed that the children
themselves become ac-
tivists, organizers, and
"educators." A child who is
himself active, who is
encouraging and assisting
his peers or his parents to
observe the Seder and the
Passover holiday will not
"fall asleep" during the
Seder and will not allow
others around him to fall as-
leep.
Rabbi Schneerson said
the children must partici-
pate and be taught to lead
and to encourage Passover
observance by others.
Rabbi Schneerson
urged that all Jewish
children, even the very
young, be reached in a
massive publicity cam-
paign and Lubavitch is
offering prizes for assist-
ing and encouraging el-
ders and parents in the
preparations for
Passover.
The Chabad-Lubavitch
Organization of Michigan is
offering a grand prize of a
free trip to Disneyworld in
Florida and other prizes of
10-speed bicycles, Polaroid
cameras and digital
watches to winners of a
Children's Passover Con-
test. To be eligible, children
are being asked to encour-
age and assist parents and
peers in a 10-point Passover
preparation and celebra-
tion:
• To clear our hametz
(leavened
food)
for
Passover.
• To help sweep and
clean the whole house of
hametz.
• To lock up and sell val-
uable hametz goods.
• To search for hametz on
the evening of March 30,
with a feather, candle and
wooden spoon.
• To burn the leftover
hametz on the morning of
March 31.
• To eat only kosher for
Passover products during
the eight-day festival.
• To invite guests to the
family Seder.
• To eat matzot and wine
at the Seder.
• To ask the "Four Ques-
tions" at the Seder.
• To read and discuss the
Haggada and the exodus
from Egypt at the Seder.
An attractive, child-
oriented brochure, complete
with cartoon characters is
being disseminated to
A man who knows the

the most of everything he
does know, but of may

THE BLUE BOX
AND EVERYTHING, IT
STANDS FOR ON EVERY
IMPORTANT OCCASION:

the state. Radio and TV an-
nouncements together with

brew afternoon and day
schools are being used to
encourage participation.

monies. The new Torahs

tions under a hupa.
