If one is not a first born, but has a first born son under 13, one should fast or partake in a Siyum. The Siyum usually takes place in the Synagogue. Even the word Haggadah (the book used at the Seder) is derived from the Hebrew word "to relate," from the Biblical injunction that parents are to relate the story of the Exodus to their children. Unusual actions and obser- vances are built into the Seder procedure to arouse children's curiosity to insure that they do not fall asleep. The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Schneer- son proposed a brilliant radically-new concept in eduction to solve the youth indifference ("fal- ling asleep") problem: That the children them- selves become activists, organizers and "educators"! Rabbi Schneerson urged that all Jewish chil- dren, even the very young, be reached in a massive publicity campaign and offered valu- able prizes for assisting and encouraging el- ders and parents in the preparations for Passover — always taking care, of course, to strictly observe dth precept to honor one's el- ders, parents and grandparents.
