Russia Rejected

LONDON (ZINS) — In an
interview in Davar, British
Chief Rabbi Immanuel
Jakobovits said he was ap-
proached during his visit to
Moscow in 1976 with the
suggestion that Russia
wanted to resume relations
with Israel.
The rabbi said that it was
broadly hinted by Russian
leaders that new relations
between Israel and Russia
could be started by_ Prime
Minister Yitzhak Rabin
sending greetings to Russia
on Israel's 30th anniver-
sary.
Rabbi Jakobovits said,
"Premier Rabin listened to
what I said and did noth-
ing."

PLO Moratorium

BEIRUT (ZINS) — Saad
Sadil, "war minister" of the
Palestine Liberation
Organization, told a Beirut
newspaper that the PLO
has halted air hijackings
and curtailed terrorist .at-
tacks in response to last
fall's visit of a delegation of
American blacks.
But Sadil said the
moratorium is being used
by the PLO to reorganize,
and then the PLO will in-
tensify its efforts to incite
an Iran-style rebellion in
the "occupied territories."

Hadad Fumes
at Reps' Remark

TEL AVIV (ZINS) — The
commander of the Christian
forces in south Lebanon,
Major Saad Hadad, repor-
tedly became involved in a
heated exchange with a
U.S. Congressional delega-
tion which visited Lebanon.
The Congressmen, sev-
eral of Lebanese descent,
urged Hadad to become
closer to the Lebanese gov-
ernment and renounce aid
from Israel, which they
promised would be replaced
by the U.S.
Hadad reportedly de-
nounced the U.S. as a
third-rate power, citing the
Soviet invasion of Af-
ghanistan and the Iranian
takeover of the American
embassy in Teheran.

It is utterly false and
cruelly arbitrary to put all
the play and learning into
childhood, all the work into
middle age and all the re-
grets into old age.
