THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS German Party Seeks Tighter Laws on Nazis BONN (JTA) — The ril- ing Social Democratic Party (SPD) has proposed meas- ures that would close the gaps in existing legislation aimed against neo-Nazism in West Germany. The recommendations, submitted to the govern- ment, are the result of a thorough study and evalua- tion of hearings held last year on the dangers of neo-Nazism: The party con- luded, however, that in neral, laws now in effect are fairly tight. But it • accepted the recommendations of promi- nent officials and social sci- entists who testified at an Open meeting of the SPD's parliamentary faction. They included an amend- ment to a paragraph which forbids spreading Nazi propaganda material pro- duced after the Federal Re- Public was established. The aniendment, which the SPD supports, would make it a criminal offense to circulate such material which antedates the Fed- eral Republic, including, presumably, Hitler's biography, "Mein 'Kaintif." Jewish Literati Receive Awards MEXICO CITY (JTA) — Six Jewish authors, poets and journalists have been named the winners of the 1979 Fernando Jeno Liter- ary Awards in recognition of their writings in Yiddish, P;"iebrew and Spanish. They are: Poet Moshe Shulstein of Paris and Yit- zhak Luden of Tel Aviv, in Akhe category of Yiddish -iting; Naomi Wishnitzer and Bentzion Epstein, both of Israel, writing in Hebrew; and Ariel Roffe, for his biog- raphy of Menahem Begin, and Arminda Narosky, both of Buenos Aires, writing in Spanish.
