Back in 1959, Sila was opened by George Cundari, who passed away in 1976 .. Today, it is still a family-owned and operated eatery . . . but much larger . . . now seating more than 200 . . . I can remember when the first additional room was built in 1973, sea- ting another 93 . . . This was a real big thing . . . How- ever, the entire lot in front of Sila was built three months ago into another large addition for about 100, including a cocktail lounge. Sila is now run by George's son, Eugene . . with family helpers mother Dora, sisters Louisa and Angela and brother Alfonso . . . Still there almost from the time Sila first opened, working days, is right- hand-gal Mable Dearing. Except for the regular customers who fervently swear by Sila, it is a sleeper many times for- gotten when people think of places to go for infor- mal dining . . . It makes its own spaghetti sauce ... its own Italian sauce for the round pizza, which is among the best. Pizzas and Italian specialties are just a couple of items served ... There's chic- ken, seafood; bar-b-q ribs, fish, meat balls, side orders, salads and sand- wiches ... All are also available for carry-out . . . One of the items is not found at too many places . . . Pizza Alla Donna Filippo . . . consid- ered the real Italian cheese pizza . . . with garlic, olive oil and oregano that makes the taste different from any other kind of pizza. The two private banquet rooms can be divided for 45 each . . . or one party of 90. Those who swear by Sila have done so since the day. George Cundari opened his little place . . . The change is quite a difference . . . and the food has gotten even (//0°.° THE MUSIC 41 1 4r IS BACK :C MA R IVOIICM.°Igal ijilarg r AIIIPa."111r° AT BLOOMFIELD RAY KING ENTERTAINS WITH PIANO TUESDAYS THRU SATURDAYS JOIN US FOR OUR ATTITUDE READJUSTMENT HAPPY HOUR, MON.
