TEL AVIV (ZINS) — The
annoyance of some Israeli
official circles at the seem-
ing American-Egyptian
cooperation as part of the
American strategy, follow-
ing the Afghanistan inva-
sion, is unwarranted, writes
S.Z. Abramov in Haaretz.
He points out that Ameri-
can attempt to mobilize Is-
lamic influence against the
Soviets cannot include Is-
rael in this scheme, nor can
the setting-up of American
military bases in Egypt jus-
tify or necessitate a
settingeup of such bases in
Israel.
