Delegation Aids
Southeast Asians

NEW YORK — Rabbi
Marc H. Tannenbaum, na-
tional director of interreli-
gious affairs of the Ameri-
can Jewish Committee, is
among a delegation ofprom-
inent Americans in Thai-
land this week in an effort to
secure entry into Cambodia
for truckloads of food and
medicines as well as medi-
cal personnel to help the
starving Cambodian people.
Under the leadership of
Leo Cherne, chairman of
the International Rescue
Committee, the delegation,
part of an international
movement called "Cam-
bodia: March for Survival,"
will accompany the truck
caravan to the Cambodian
border.

If the authorities refuse
to permit the truck to
enter the country,
Cherne has stated, the
delegation will return to
the border daily for sev-
eral days. Should the
continued effort prove
unsuccessful, the
supplies will be distrib-
uted to Cambodian refu-
gees in the border area
and to Thai people who
have been displaced by
the refugees.

Others in the delegation
include Joan Baez, repre-
senting the organization,
Humanitas; Father Robert
Charlebois, director of
Catholic Relief Services;
Russian dissident Alexan-
der Ginsburg; labor leader
Nathaniel LaCour; attor-
ney Oren Root; civil rights
leader Bayard Rustin; ac-
tress Liv Ullmann; and
author Elie Wiesel, chair-
man of the President's
Committee on the
Holocaust.

Visiting Israel

NEW YORK — Forty
teenagers from 15 com-
munities in the U.S. are
participating in a six-week
cultural and educational
exchange program in Israel.
Mrs. Charlotte Jacobson,
chairman of the World
Zionist Organization-
American Section, said,
"This marks the seventh
year of the Mishlahat-in-
Reverse program of a return
exchange of American high
school students for the an-
nual Mishlahat delegation
of Israeli high school stu-
dents who visit American
schools," she said.
The young Americans
function as cultural emis-
saries during their visit in
Israel, Mrs. Jacobson said.

"Falasha File'
Feb. 17 in NY

NEW YORK — "The
Falasha File — A Living
Documentary on the Plight
of Ethiopia's Jews" will be
presented Feb. 17 at the Ab-
raham Goodman House in
New York.
The presentaion, focusing
on the history and culture of
the Falashas as well as on
their current desperate
situation will be sponsored
jointly by the Tarbuth
Foundation, the American
Association for Ethiopian
Jews, and Adelphi Univer-
sity.
