Kollel for Rabbi Stollman

The administration of
Yeshivath Beth Yehudah
has announced that the
post-graduate rabbinical
department has been
named Kollel Bais Yitzchok
in memory of Rabbi
Yitzchok Stollman, a foun-
der of Beth Yehudah
Schools and its first
president.
Rabbi Stollman died Jan.
7 at age 86 in Jerusalem,
Israel.

The announcement was
made Wednesday by Rabbi
Leizer Levin, the head of the
Council of Orthodox Rabbis
of Greater Detroit, during a
memorial assembly for
Rabbi Stollman held at the
yeshiva.
The kollel is an institute
for the advanced study of
the Bible, Talmud and rab-
binic literature, headed by

new airline to fly between

John J. Appel teaches at Michigan State Univer-
sity and, with his wife, Selma, is known for studies
of the depiction of American immigrants in popular
graphics: print, humor weeklies, trade and post
cards and similar throw-away materials.

He has contributed to many scholarly journals and
is the editor of a book, The New Immigration,"
and with Selma Appel, "The Distorted Image," a
sound and slide project distributed by the Anti-
Defamation League of B'nai B'rith.
