Born in Russia, Mr. Teitel lived many years in Detroit prior to moving to Florida 10 years ago. He resided in Lauderhill, Fla. He sang for many years with the Cong. Shaarey Zedek Quartet, the Detroit Opera Company and the Halevy Singing Society. He was a member of the Phar- Aesculapian Society, maceutical Michigan Drug Travel- ers, Crescent Shrine Club and Perfection Lodge of the Masons. Mr. Teitel leaves his wife, Beatrice; a son, Alan; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Adeline) Stern and Mrs. George (Shirlee) Ingber; a sister, Mrs. Norman (Eveline) Ross; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Ben Goldstein Ben Goldstein, owner of Duffield Bar in Detroit, died Jan. 21 at age 70. Born in Providence, R.I., Mr. Goldstein lived 69 years in Detroit. He owned the bar for 25 years and retired 15 years ago. He was a member of Craftsman Lodge of the Ma- sons. He resided at 25627 Briar Dr., Oak Park. He is survived by his wife, Rose; a son, Norman; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Marilyn) Silverman; four sisters, Mrs. Rose Haidy of Los Angeles, Calif., Re- becca, Mrs. Harry (Katie) Newman and Mrs. Lillian Dubrinsky; and two grandchildren. R. Shwayder Richard Shwayder, an executive of the Samsonite Corp., died Jan. 19 at age 49. A Detroit native, Mr. Shwayder worked for the Samsonite Corp. until its office here closed and he moved to the company's headquarters in Denver in 1965. From 1970 to 1974, he lived in London, Ontario, as president of Samsonite of Canada. He then returned to Denver as president of Samsonite's interna- tional division. In 1977, when Beatrice Foods be- came the parent com- pany of Samsonite, Mr. Shwayder was named president of Beatrice's home furnishing group. He held that position at the time of his death. He leaves his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Pamela and Patti; his par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Benja- min (Fteva)Sliwayder; and a brother, Warren. Marie Garnick Israeli Economist Beigun NEW YORK (JTA) — Dr. Dov Biegun, a prominent Labor Zionist and leading Israeli manufacturer and economist, died in New York Jan. 19 at age 66 while on a business trip to the United States. Dr. Biegun was national secretary of the National Committee for Labor Israel and vice president of AMPAL for three years in the U.S. before he immig- rated to Israel in 1965. There he published a pri- vate newsletter that was circulated among a select group, was a consultant for international investments and was a manufacturer. He was in the U.S. to seek new markets for one of his fac- tories that had formerly sold its products in Iran. Born in Poland, Dr. Biegun earned a docto- rate degree in economics from the University of Prague. He was fluent in 14 languages and was in the midst of writing his memoirs at the time of his death. • Attorney William Bramson, Magen David Adorn Activist William Bramson, 80, active attorney here for 50 years, died Jan. 17 in Florida. Funeral services were held here Sunday at Ira Kaufman Chapel. A native Detroiter, Mr. Bramson was a 1929 Detroit College of Law graduate. Last June he was in the group of attorneys who were honored for 50-year mem- bership in the Michigan Bar Association. For a number of years he was active in the Michigan Chapter of American Society for Magen David Adom of Is- rael, the counterpart of the Red Cross, and was closely associated in many aspects of the MDA work with its national president, Joseph Rand- leman. With an active interest in the Detroit Jewish commu- nity's activities in the early years of the century, Mr. Bramson was a pioneer member active in the Han- nah Schloss Old Timers. Surviving Mr. Bramson are two sisters, Sadye Ab- ramsohn and Lillian Ab- ramsohn; two nephews, Jef- frey Shipko and Robert Shipko; and a niece, Mrs. William (Lorraine) Lester. Larry Herman Larry Herman, a man- ufacturer's representative for an athletic equipment company, died Jan. 17 at age 71. Mr. Herman was elected to the National Sporting Goods association of Man- ufacturers' Representatives Hall of Fame in 1978. He designed National Hockey League uniforms and pro- tective padding. He was a captain in the Air Force during World War II and was a member of Temple Beth El, Standard Club and Tam-O-Shanter Country Club. He also was an avid golfer. Otto Mailander, Scientist, Dies LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Otto Mailander, one of a dozen Jews who escaped the gas chambers by working on the V-2 rockets that were the forerunners of space ve- hicles, died recently at age 85.
