flutist, and Julius Chajes,

Symphony Orchestra at its

Due at Akiva Anniversary

Malcom Toon, former
U.S. ambassador to Israel
and the Soviet Union, will
be the guest speaker at the
16th annual anniversary
banquet of Akiva Hebrew
Day School 7 p.m. Feb. 24 at
Cong. Beth Achim.
He will focus on U.S.
foreign policy and its role in
the Middle East.
Toon was U.S. ambas-
sador to Israel from June
1975 to December 1976,
prior to his appointment to
Russia. He previously was
the ambassador to Yugos-
lavia (1971-1975) and to
Czechoslovakia (1969-
1971).
He was assigned to em-
bassies in Warsaw,
Budapest, Rome, Lon-
don, Moscow and to the
Department of State as
director of Soviet affairs
and deputy assistant sec-
retary of state of Euro-
pean affairs.

Hospital-Cornell Medical

ora in a recent ceremony at
The Library, St. Regis
Hotel, New York. Rabbi
Steven M. Reuben of New
York City officiated.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Irving B.
Ackerman of Southfield and
Pompano Beach, Fla. Par-
ents of the bridegroom are
Mrs. John Chabora of Gar-
field, N.J., and the late Mr.
Chabora.
Attending the couple
were Mrs. Julian Ettelson
and Gregory Csaki.
The new Mrs. Chabora
attended the University
of Wisconsin and earned
a BA degree from the
University of Michigan,
where she earned a MSW
degree from its school of
social work.
