Aid Center Enlarged NEW YORK (JTA) — The special psychological problems of Orthodox Jews as well as those of other religious groups are being served through an ex- panded 21-year-old Yeshiva University Center for Psychological and Psychoeducational Serv- ices. The center is located at the university's Brookdale Center in Manhattan and is operated by the Ferkauf Graduate School's new school of professional psy- chology to provide a wide range of evaluation, treat- ment and consultation serv- ices to children, adoles- cents, college students, adults and families. The child has severe neurological defects and is partially blind. Reuven Resch said he heard of the child in the Jewish community, and visited the child in the hospital. He said he and his wife informed the so- cial services office of their interest and asked that the adoption be handled through the Miskon Children's Home in Borough Park. Resch, who himself was. adopted, said the office ig- nored his request and the New York Family Court Act, which requires place- ment "when practicable" to be with an adoption agency under control "of persons of the same religious faith" as that of the child. Justice Dept. Names New Investigator o f Nazis in U.S. WASHINGTON (JTA) — Allan Ryan Jr., a lawyer from the Solicitor General's office, will replace Walter Rockier as head of the Jus- tice Department's Office of Special Investigations (OSI) which is responsible for the investigation and prosecu- tion of alleged Nazi war criminals in the United States. Meanwhile, in the first such statement by any American President, President Carter has endorsed the Justice De- partment's investigation and prosecution of alleged Nazi war criminals. The January 1980 issue of "Jewish Living," expected to appear in two weeks, car- ries Carter's statement say- ing: "I will lend my full sup- port to the Justice Depart- ment's efforts to de- naturalize and deport ex- Nazis living illegally in the United States, because I be- lieve that we can never forget the actions of those responsible for the Holocaust ..." Carter's remarks in Jewish Living were part of a statement that was specifically prepared for the magazine, its editor, ' L. Aryeh Rubin, said. The magazine had sent out a questionaire to eight Presidential candidates, asking for answers on "specific hard-mosed facts about the candidate's posi- tions on issues of special Jewish concern." Rather than responding to the questionnaire per se, Carter issued a statement to the magazine which in- cluded his endorsement of Justice Department efforts on war criminals. Since this question was not part of the Jewish Living question- naire, the other seven can- didates did not express their views on that issue.
