Dentists' Brunch

The Dentists Section of
the 1980 Allied Jewish
Campaign-Israel Emer-
gency Fund will hold its an-
nual Pace-Setters Cam-
paign Brunch 10:30 a.m.
Jan. 13 at the home of Dr.
John D. Marx, West Bloom-
field.
Guest speaker will be
Yehuda Hellman, executive
director of the Conference of
Presidents of Major Ameri-
can Jewish Organizations,
who is an authority on the
Middle East.
A native of Riga, Hellman
worked as a journalist in
Paris, London, Beirut and
Damascus. While working
in Arab countries for the
Jerusalem Post, he was ar-
rested by the Arabs who
charged him with sending
dispatches unfavorable to
their cause.

He has served on the
Secretariat of the Brus-
sels Conference on Soviet
Jewry and as secretary-
general of the World Con-
ference of Jewish Organ-
izations.
Dr. Eli V. Berger is

chairman of the Dentists
Section. Donald Fox and Dr.
Harris W. Mainster chair
the Professional Health Di-
vision.

Schwartz to Host
Parlor Session

The first of a series of par-
lor meetings to benefit the
1980 Allied Jewish
Campaign-Israel Emer-
gency Fund will be held at 8
p.m. Jan. 16, at the Bloom-
field Hills home of former
Jewish Welfare Federation
President Alan E.
Schwartz.
Guest speaker will be Al-
bert B. Ratner, president of
Forest City Enterprises,
Inc., who recently ended a
three-year term as
president of the Jewish
Community Federation of
Cleveland.
Ratner is a past chairman
of the Jewish Welfare Fund
Drive and of the Jewish
Welfare Fund Planning
Committee of Cleveland

David Handleman and
Irving R. Seligman are
chairmen of the 1980 Allied
Jewish Campaign.

Challenge'
Pay-Off Wednesday

Robert H,. Naftaly, chal-
lenged Dry' Conrad L. Giles,
chairman of the Profes-
sional Health Division:
"We will secure a larger
number of new pledges and
raise a larger percentage in
the 1979 Campaign," Naf-
taly pledged.

At the close of 1979, the
Professional Service Di-
vision had secured 250
new pledges and a di-
vision total of $2,440,512

At the opening of the 1979
Allied Jewish Campaign,

sional Health Division con-
ceded that the increase re-
corded by the rival team
was indeed "healthy."
As agreed at the opening
of the challenge, the losers
will host a cocktail party for
Campaign workers and
leaders of both Professional
divisions. The pay-off cere-
mony is scheduled for 8:30
p.m. Wednesday at Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
