Rabbi Mirsky attended the University of Michigan and earned a BA degree from the University of Cin- cinnati. He earned bachelor's and master of Hebrew letters degrees at Hebrew Union College, where he received ordina- tion in 1963. Professor of sociology and contemporary Jewish studies at HUC's Los Angeles campus, Rabbi Mirsky taught sociology at the Univer- sity of Cincinnati and served congregations in the Midwest and South. He joined the faculty of HUC in 1967, earned a PhD degree from Brandeis Uni- versity in 1970 and joined the HUC faculty in Los Angeles in 1976. At the University of Cincinnati he was the senior research associate in the psychiatry department of the univer- sity's medical school.
