Garbage Strike
TEL AVIV (JTA) — Pre-
liminary efforts to clear Tel
Aviv's streets of the garbage
that piled up during a
three-day strike by sanita-
tion workers in December
were foiled when garbage
truck drivers engaged in a
work slowdown. They de-
cided to work only one shift
which is insufficient to re-
move even a single day's ac-
cumulation.
Mayor Shlomo Lehat
asked the government to
order the drivers to resume
their normal hours.
