mittee of the Canadian
Jewish Congress has as-
sailed Dr. Nahum
Goldmann, honorary
president of the World
Jewish Congress, for two ar-
ticles by him in the German
publication, Die Zeit, and
expressed great concern
"with a number of state-
ments he made, lending aid
and comfort to those who
take a negative view of Jews
and play down the horrors of
the Holocaust."

In his meeting with Ev-
ron, Connally made clear
his good intentions
toward Israel and his
hopes for a peaceful set-
tlement of the problems
in the Middle East.
The JTA also was told
that Connally reiterated his
commitment to the security
of Israel, and that, as a great
friend of Israel, he would
honor all commitments
undertaken by previous
administrations, should he
become president.

PARIS (JTA) — France
announced last week that it
will sell 24 Mirage F-1
figher-interceptor planes to
Iraq and six Alpha-jet
planes to Kuwait. French
official sources said that
both these countries are ex-
pected to buy additional
planes and electronic
equipment in France in
order to further modernize
their air forces.
