Dorothy Sott

Dorothy Cambell Sott, re-
tired director of admissions
and alumni relations at the
Kingswood School in Cran-
brook, died Dec. 18 at age
57.
A native Detroiter, Mrs.
Sott had been affiliated
with the Kingswood School
for more than 25 years. She
was a member of the Marine
Corps during World War II.
She was a member of Tem-
ple Beth El.
She leaves her husband,
Herbert; two daughters,
Mrs. Lesley Sott Nickel of
Shreveport, La., and Mrs.
Lynne Sott Jackson of
Chicago; her mother, Mrs.
James (Altha) Inglis; a
brother, James J. Inglis;
and one grandson.

David Learner

David Learner, a phar-
macist and owner of Dale
Drugs in Warren, St. Clair
Shores and Union Lake,
died Dec. 18 at age 53.
A native Detroiter, Mr.
Learner was graduated in
1949 from the University of
Michigan's college of phar-
macy. He was a member of
Temple Israel.
He leaves his wife, Diane;
a son, Dr. James; and his
mother, Mrs. Abraham (Re-
becca) Learner.

Ida Avrushin, a member
of Jewish organizations and
a benefactor of Jewish
causes here and in Israel,
died Dec. 14 at age 85.
Born in Russia, Mrs. Av-
rushin lived 67 years in De-
troit. She was a former
member of Cong. Beth
Tefilo Emanuel Tikvah,
Lachvar Aid Society and
American Mizrachi
Women.
She leaves four daugh-
ters, Mrs. Edward (Anne)
Fienman, Mrs. Irving (He-
len) Weiss, Mrs. Seymour
(Hattie) Schwartz and Mrs.
Jack (Esther) Gorback; a
brother, Joseph Chafetz; 11
grandchildren and 16
great-grandchildren.

Mrs Kifferstein

Bertha Kifferstein, a
member of Jewish women's
organizations, died Dec. 15
at age 65.
A native Detroiter, Mrs.
Kifferstein was a life
member of Hadassah and a
member of United Order
True Sisters, Sinai Hospital
Guild and the National
Council of Jewish Women.
She also was a member of
Temple Israel.
She leaves her husband,
Harry; a son, Warren; a
daughter, Mrs. Stuart
(Rosanne) Barak; a
brother, Samuel Blondy;
and four grandchildren.

Monte Weston

Monte Weston, retired
founder and owner of Wes-
ton Dental Laboratories,
died Dec. 14 at age 79.
A native Detroiter, Mr.
Weston owned his company
for more than 30 years. He
was a member of Cong.
Shaarey Zedek and its
men's club, Union Lodge
No. 3 of the Masons and a
member of its board of trus-
tees, Crescent Shrine and
Silverman-Detroit Post of
the Jewish War Veterans.
He leaves his wife,
Eleanor; a son, Dr. Arthur
of Dallas, Tex.; and three
granddaughters.

SARAH ABRAMSON,

81, 16300 W. Nine Mile,

Southfield, died Dec. 19.
Survived by a son, Dr. Shel-
don; a daughter, Mrs. Max
(Evelyn) Parker; a brother,
Hyman Zack; nine

Ben S. Sidlow

Ben S. Sidlow, retired co-
founder of the Sidlow Insur-
ance Agency, died Dec. 15 at
age 80.
Born in Poland, Mr. Sid-
low lived 70 years in De-
troit. He was the retired
supervisor of Clover Hill
Park Cemetery and retired
executive director of the
chevra kadisha (burial
society) of Cong. Shaarey
Zedek.
He was named supervisor
of the cemetery in 1948 and
retired in 1974. He was a
member of Cong. Shaarey
Zedek for more than 50
years and was active on be-
half of the Jewish Welfare
Federation.
Mr. Sidlow leaves his
wife, Minnette; a son,
Hubert J.; a brother, Dr.
Leonard of Studio City,
Calif.; and grandchildren.
