George M. Stutz Gains Communal Acclaim
as Leader in Many Causes, Administrator
George M. Stutz is a
leader who rose from the
ranks. More than 40 years
ago, he was among the
youngest of volunteers for
the major Jewish causes. He
then commenced his iden-
tification with the basic
Jewish movements as
a member of the boards of
social agencies, later as-
suming top leadership.
In his communal career,
Stutz has not only been ele-
vated to high positions but
has always been a guide, an
adviser of numerous ad-
ministrations in the Jewish
Welfare Federation and its
agencies.
These devoted labors
have earned for him the
high respect which stimu-
lates the avalanche of greet-
ings pouring in on his 75th
birthday.
His role in the Goodfel-
lows and Detroit Emer-
gency Relief in the 1930s,
when he led the estab-

served a long list of commu-
nity agencies and organiza-
tions: Temple Israel, Feder-
