MAIL DEPT.... "I've

"However, the one that I
will refer you to is in Los
Angeles on Ventura Blvd.
near Laurel Canyon and it
is called 'Art's Deli.' The rye
bread is twice as large

here. Even Martha Raye
with her big mouth couldn't
even take a bite out of this
sandwich. It is a full meal in
itself. So whenever you are
in L.A., try it. And by the
way, when there are a lot of
people waiting for a table,
they will serve hors
d'oeuvres on the house."

The Commission said
that in recent years only a
small plaque had marked
the site and a gasoline sta-
tion was built on it. While
traveling to Eastern
Europe, Denmark and Is-
rael earlier this year, Com-
mission members "brought
this insensitivity" to the at-
tention of the Polish gov-
ernment.
In a related development,
a noted academician called
for increased efforts to
preserve and restore Jewish
monuments in Europe so
that future generations will
more fully understand the
development and destruc-
tion of European Jewry.
In an address before the
Foreign Affairs Committee
of the American Jewish
Committee's New York
chapter, Prof. Werner
Cahnman, chairman of the
Rashi Association for the
Preservation of Cultural
Monuments in Europe,
noted that communities
across Germany, Austria,
Hungary and Poland still
serve as warehouses of
Jewish cultural and reli-
gious monuments.
