Very efficient, courteous and most likable waitress, Diane Cometto, not only went into the kitchen to assist Chef David Kanter, but also helped taste it until the sauce was almost perfect. If you have any bones next time you're at Ex- calibur, save them for Diane . Customer gave her a black Labrador puppy six months ago ... and she named him Bear . . . The Jewish Poor Being Forgotten NEW YORK (JTA) — An analysis of non-profit foun- dation contributions to pro- grams for the poor has shown that the Jewish poor of New York City are virtu- ally unknown in such dis- tributions, according to Menahem Shayovich, president of the Metropoli- tan New York Coordinating Council on Jewish Poverty, which sponsored the study. He said that in a random sampling of eight founda- tions, all of which have out- standing records in com- munity giving, it was learned that during the 1976 fiscal year, only two foundations allocated funds directed to help the Jewish poor. Rabbi David Cohen, the Coordinating Council's executive director, said the council had started talks with the foundations "to convey to them the plight of the Jewish poor" and to seek greater foundation coopera- tion "to establish pro- grammatic activities aimed at alleviating" the problems of the Jewish poor.
