Bar-B-Q lives on.
The famed spot that
started on 12th and Clair-
mount more than 30 years
ago is back again ... on Or-
chard Lake Rd. in the east
side sector of West Bloom-
field Plaza.

It is primarily a ca
operation now ... but till
with 20 seats at four tables
... where folks can enjoy
some of the best ribs and
side dishes anywhere.
It is owned by Arlyn
Meyerson and open only
since Oct. 2.
Only baby ribs are
served ... at reasonable
prices ... and so tender
and juicy that they are
made basted solely on
request ... The bar-b-q
sauce is the same as that
served by Buddy and
Mary Meyerson on 12th
and Clairmount.
.Arlyn makes his own very
good tole slaw and garlic
bread ... The onion rings
are the real things . . . sliced
whole Bermuda onions. The
salads are great (Buddy's
Special, Maurice and Tuna)
. and like those old days,
there's chicken, pan-fried
shrimp with honey, fish 'n
chips, combinations, cot-
tage fried potatoes, .. ham-
burger- sandwiches, too.
There's very few desserts
to compare with Buddy's
cheesecake .. . made from
Mary's recipe . . . with
pineapple on the bottom . .
excellent consistency and
delicious to the last crumb.
Arlyn's two cooks are
standbys of many years
... Marquette Washing-
ton's 30 years were at
Buddy's on 12th St., Aged
and Rare on Grand Blvd.
and Scotch 'n Sirloin ..
Juanita Wells was at the
Scotch 'n Sirloin 19 years.
Buddy's Bar-B-Q may
now have only 20 seats, but
it won't be long until a few
more tables are added .
and if the West Bloomfield
Plaza owners are smart,
they'll somehow make more
room for Arlyn.
No, you certainly can't
keep a good man down ...
especially when it comes to
someone like Arlyn Meyer-
son ... The hardships suf-
fered by Hester and Arlyn
after losing Scotch 'n Sirloin
and Trio were immeasura-
ble . . . This is definitely the
start of being back on the
right track ... Arlyn
Meyerson never was a quit-
ter ... and believe me, he is
sure getting back up in the
right way.
Buddy's Bar-B-Q is open
seven days ... Monday
through Thursday 11 to 9
p.m., Friday and Saturday
11 to 11 p.m., and Sunday 3
to 9 p.m.... It'll be open on
Christmas Day and New
Year's Day, 3 to 9 p.m. ...
