Linowitz Pushes Autonomy Talk

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Sol Linowitz, President
Carter's special ambassador
to the Middle East, went to
Cairo Wednesday with Is-
rael Interior Minister
Yosef Burg to discuss the
status of the autonomy
talks with Egyptian offi-
cials. Linowitz and Burg,
who heads the Israeli
negotiating team, met with
Egyptian Prime Minister
Mustapha Khalil, head of
the Egyptian negotiators.
Linowitz met with Israeli
Premier Menahem Begin
for two hours Monday night.
He told reporters after-
wards that he was "im-
mensely heartened by what
he (Begin) said and I am
absolutely convinced we can
go forward together toward
our mutual objective in a
spirit of trust and under-
standing."
Begin characterized his
talk with the American
envoy as one of the most in-
teresting he has had in
years. Linowitz conveyed a

told reporters, expressed
"the great admiration and
high regard" with which Is-

President, Secretary of
State Cyrus Vance and
other Administration offi-

The meeting in Cairo
Wednesday was held at the
request of Khalil who had
earlier asked for a post-
ponement of the next ple-

tonomy talks. They were
supposed to have begun this
week in Herzliya but it now
appears they will be held
there next week.

Linowitz indicated that

he wants to lose no time
in continuing the negoti-
ations which have been
restricted almost entirely
to procedural matters up
to now and have made
virtually no progress on
substance.

There's a New
Retirement Plan

That Makes
All Others
Look
Old-Fashioned

The Simplified Pension Plan offered by
Metropolitan Savings is the newest look
in individual retirement plans. It makes all others. even the
traditional gold retirement watch, look old-fashioned. Unlike other
pension plans. it cuts costs and paperwork and permits more flexibility:
Here's how simple it works. An employer may contribute as much as
15% of salary or up to $7,500 annually, whichever is less. A special
feature allows both the employee and the employer to fund the same SPP-IRA
account, if the amount contributed by the employer is less than 150 or
$1,500. All contributions are tax deductible and earnings are tax-deferred
until retirement. Designed to permit more flexibility, the
SPP-IRA allows the employer's contribution to vary
percentage-wise from year to year, provided that
the percentage is the same for all participants. All
eligible employees must belong in order to qualify
for this new plan.
For more details on SPP-IRA and our other retirement
plans such as IRA. Keogh and Defined Benefit Keogh.
